Research-led formulation

A more careful
starting point for reactive skin.

Most skincare is built around what works for most people. But easily reactive skin often needs a different starting point — one that considers the whole formula, not just the headline ingredient.

The research-led thinking behind the Dual Conflict Rule

One solution.
Multiple consequences.

Many skincare formulas begin with a single target — a concern to support, an ingredient to showcase, or a texture to achieve. The formula is built around that target. For easily reactive skin, that can be too narrow a starting point.

For many skin types, that approach can work well. For easily reactive skin, it can be less straightforward.

An ingredient chosen to reduce the appearance of redness may not suit another aspect of easily reactive skin. An ingredient chosen to improve the look or feel of flaking may leave skin feeling stripped or uncomfortable.

"Reactive skin often involves more than one overlapping sensitivity. What appears to help one concern may not suit another — and many formulas are not built around this level of overlap."

Our formulation principle

The Dual Conflict Rule.

Every formulation decision at Nurest is guided by dermatological research, formulation discipline and ingredient restraint. We are not interested in trend-led skincare if it does not suit easily reactive skin.

The rule is simple: every ingredient must support the formula's purpose for reactive skin without creating an obvious conflict elsewhere — or it is excluded. Does it support easily reactive skin without introducing an avoidable conflict? If the answer is not a clear yes, it does not belong in the formula.

This principle is applied to every ingredient decision across the Nurest range.

Why standard formulation can fall short

Made without
anything that works against you.

The following categories are excluded from every Nurest formula — including carrier systems, surfactant grades, emulsifiers, preservatives and complex raw-material blends.

Excluded category Why
Fragrance & parfum A common source of irritation for easily reactive skin. Serves no formulation purpose.
Essential oils Some contain fragrance compounds that can be difficult for easily reactive skin.
Drying alcohols Can leave easily reactive skin feeling stripped, dry or uncomfortable.
Retinoids Effective for many skin concerns, but often difficult for easily reactive skin. The potential for dryness and irritation does not fit the first Nurest routine.
Oleic-dominant oils Can be a poor fit for flake-prone, easily reactive skin — even when widely regarded in mainstream skincare.
SLS / SLES Avoided due to irritancy and stripping concerns.
High-dose trend actives Active levels likely to increase sting, flushing or irritation are not compatible with this range.
Nurest is cosmetic skincare and is not intended to diagnose, treat or cure any medical condition. Our formulation approach is designed to support the appearance and feel of easily reactive skin.
