Reactive skin describes skin that stings, flushes, tightens or looks unsettled in response to products, weather, cleansing or ingredients that other people may tolerate easily. It is not a diagnosis — it is a pattern. It can be associated with a disrupted skin barrier, which may leave skin feeling more easily irritated, dry or unsettled. Many people with reactive skin find that standard sensitive skin advice does not fully address what their skin is dealing with.
For reactive skin, a barrier-first approach can be a sensible starting point before introducing multiple actives or new products. A gentle, low-pH cleanser and a fragrance-free, essential-oil-free moisturiser can help keep a routine simpler and easier to assess. Avoiding fragrance, parfum, essential oils and drying alcohols can reduce exposure to ingredients that some reactive skin may find irritating. Introducing one product at a time can also make it easier to understand what your skin tolerates. There is no universal timetable. For non-prescription cosmetics, stop using a product if it clearly seems to be worsening irritation. Do not stop prescribed treatment without speaking to the prescriber.
Skincare advice and product categories are often organised around one concern at a time. Nurest is built for skin dealing with more than one sensitivity at the same time, such as redness-prone and flaky-prone skin, which can share some triggers but sometimes call for approaches that pull in different directions — this is exactly what we built the Dual Conflict Rule™ around: every ingredient must fit our formulation brief for reactive skin without creating an avoidable conflict elsewhere.
We're developing Nurest with redness-prone, easily reactive skin in mind, including skin that can look persistently red or flushed. The approach is deliberately simple, with ingredients selected to support hydration and skin comfort. Nurest is cosmetic skincare — if you have a diagnosed skin condition, speak to a qualified healthcare professional about diagnosis or treatment.
That's the development goal. We're developing Nurest without added fragrance, parfum or essential oils. Fragrance can be irritating for some people with reactive skin, which is why we've chosen to leave it out. Final product information will be confirmed when the formulations are complete.
